Feeling more than a bit upset today, so please bear with.
Morning. Another day, another stack of, uh, "love" letters in my comments awaiting moderation folder through which to sort. Just once it'd be nice if someone on the other side of political philosophies would do something other than recycle the latest talking points from Huffington Post and/or Daily Kos. Or make a case for why Barack Obama should be President based on his merits, qualifications and work experience. Just once. Given how it has yet to happen, apparently I'm asking too much.
It’s mildly amusing how many people have sufficient free time to post lengthy comments on why John McCain is Beelzebub, Sarah Palin is Ms. Mephistopheles, and anyone who disagrees with either of these conclusions is at best bitterly clinging to their guns and religion but far more likely to be suffering residual problems from either in-breeding or severe head trauma. For the benefit of those holding such, uh, "truths" to be self-evident I offer clarification concerning a couple of erroneous presuppositions: my parents were married at the time of my conception and my mother's maiden name wasn't Lassie. Thought you might like to know.
I’ve often wondered what motivates people to leave such comments. I don't go by the aforementioned liberal blogs and leave snarky not-so little missives questioning everyone's honesty and/or intelligence. Quite happy to say my piece on my blog and let others have their say on theirs. I'd suggest those leaving comments start their own blog if they have that much to write, but given how 99 44/100% of what they write is cut and paste piffle it wouldn't add much to public discourse.
Anyway, let’s see what is going on today… ah yes. The final McCain-Obama debate. Won't be watching, at least not live. Not because I'm not interested, but because something of greater personal importance has come up. My beloved aunt has been in the hospital the past few days suffering from congestive heart failure. I'll be spending the afternoon after work going into the evening with her, hoping that unlike yesterday she'll be cognizant enough of her surroundings to know who I am. Not fun. Not fun at all.
The words of Undercover come to mind:
| One by one | Count your blessings name them one by one |
| No guarantee | After all there is no guarantee |
| Hand of fear | No one that reaches out to touch the icy hand of fear |
| Memory | Can soon forget the haunting memory |
| Whoa | Blinded by sorrow |
| Blinded by sorrow | |
| Whoa | Pray for tomorrow |
| Pray for tomorrow | |
| Drip inside | Death drips inside your veins but I have mine |
| Behind the shell | Is it me or you behind the shell |
| Watch you die | Never can you know just what it's like to watch hope die |
| So far | So close so close and yet so far |
| Whoa | Blinded by sorrow |
| Blinded by sorrow | |
| Whoa | Pray for tomorrow |
| Pray for tomorrow | |
| Piece to say | Everyone around you has their piece to say |
| Your way | Right or wrong you deal with it your way |
| My medicine | Run away and hide becomes your medicine |
| Lose again | God please please don't let me lose again |
| Whoa | Blinded by sorrow |
| Whoa | Pray for tomorrow |
No matter how firmly one believes in an eternity with Christ — and I do believe — the thought of saying goodbye still cuts deep.
So as to tonight's debate, obviously I hope and pray McCain takes the offensive and does not relent, questioning Obama's personal and professional relationships with the likes of Bill Ayers and ACORN. I hope and pray he does the same with Obama's stated policy directives, calling out the deep flaws in his economic and foreign affairs proposals. However, for at least tonight it's not very high on my priority list. Of course it matters. But my aunt comes first.
I pray you feel the same about your family. And that you spent as much time demonstrating this is so as you do writing comments that never get posted. Should that be the case, your family is indeed well loved.

Thank you for the perspective. Canada’s election was Tuesday, you may or may not have heard… Your post gives great pause. Thank you and God bless your family.
