There is nothing new under the sun, Solomon noted thousands of years ago amidst the weary survivor’s rumination we know as Ecclesiastes. He was quite correct. Oh, we have new toys to play with. But nothing has changed. Not really.
The false prophets of today otherwise known as the news media screech about every sin real and imagined (usually the latter) with which John McCain and Sarah Palin can be charged while Barack Obama gets a smooth ride. Bill Ayers? Surely you can’t hold unrepentant domestic terrorist ideologies against him. ACORN? Oh, just some occasionally overzealous community organizers. Nothing to see here because we say so and don’t you dare question us on it. Move on as we take our marching orders from MoveOn.org. What’s that then? A man is known by the company he keeps? How dare you! RACIST!

Joe the plumber has the unmitigated gall to ask Obama a question giving him cause to channel Huey Long? We’ll fix that. By giving a detailed, researched explanation of Obama’s economic platform and why it is the best way to proceed? Come now. Who has time for that? We must vent! We must vet! We must bloodlet! Attack the messenger! Fix! Plant! Karl Rove! Chad Knaus! (Ask a NASCAR fan.) Let’s print his address and all other personal information we can find online! What’s that then? Respect for the individual, respect for privacy? Get real. This man embarrassed the Chosen One! RACIST! And why should we have to work for what we want anyway? Wealth redistribution! Fine, go ahead. Start by tapping the bank accounts of the celebs who write for Huffington Post. Let me know how eagerly they embrace the change.

No, I’m not claiming God’s mandate is for McCain and Palin. I am stating that regardless of who wins the election keep on praying, believing, and working for what is right and good in His eyes. Reject the tactics of hate. Give no credence to those who embrace a defense of the indefensible by whining about how the other side started it all. I am also stating the election is not over. Decide who to vote for based on the attributes of a candidate and not the demerits assigned to one by the other or supporters of the other. Vote for who you believe in. Forget the polls. Forget the media. You will decide this election. Not they. You.
