As the writing portion of the book comes to a close (still working on my concluding thoughts), I’ve occasionally wondered what I’m going to do next book-wise.
I’m highly tempted to say nothing at all for at least the foreseeable future, focusing on blogging and perhaps trying to land the odd freelance gig for I, too, like to be paid now and again. Another possibility is dusting off my book about Gord the polar bear. I wrote several chapters before laying it aside last year, and I have the plotline all done and ready to go.
There is, however, this nagging thought in the back of my mind I ought to at least consider a second edition of God’s Not Dead (And Neither Are We), this time going back to the ’70s/early ’80s and the first/second wave of contemporary Christian music. Sadly it’s too late to talk to some (Larry Norman, Mark Heard, Denny Correll) but there are so many artists from that era covering a broad musical spectrum whose stories I’d love to discover and share: John Fischer, Andy McCarroll, Malcolm and Alwyn, Erik Nelson, Kelly Willard, Ed Raetzloff, Marty McCall about his Fireworks days, the members of Prodigal, Pat Terry, the two members of Lamb, Bob Bennett, Karen Lafferty, Darrell Mansfield, the surviving members of Servant, Bob and Jayne Farrell, the members of Ishmael United, Ron Salisbury and John Pantano, Tom Howard… and probably a dozen’s dozen more whose names slip my mind at the moment.
It’s certainly something for me to think about… but not until I get the current book published!
