As The Campaign Draws To A Close
Nov 2nd

Regardless of which side of the fence you’re on, I seriously doubt anyone would say they’d like this election to continue. Even the most addicted political junkie must be feeling the way I used to back in my department store days when I’d be in charge of the toy department. The days before Christmas… oie boie. Yelling, screaming, temper tantrums, crying morning noon and night. From the adults.
It has been wearisome, this campaign. The media is so in the tank for Obama that were this a crime drama they’d be the detective walking into a room where a body would be laying on the floor, knife sticking out of its back, blood staining the carpet beneath… and after taking this all in would rub their chin before pronouncing, “Hmm. Something may have happened here, but I’m not quite sure.” They would then proceed to uncover the heinous crime of the maid not having properly folded the linens before putting them away. When such is beating you over the head daily, and you have to filter every word the media utters through multiple layers of fact checking, it’s a tad difficult to not get a little cranky. Should McCain win the media’s reaction will be of utter astonishment. “But… but… we told you who to vote for and you didn’t!”
The Obamabots chant their designated savior’s name, believing his election will magically whisk away all their problems. Some — not all, but some — believe their responsibility to actually earn what they have will be magically whisked away. How will they respond if he wins and doesn’t deliver because he can’t? The amount of government spending Obama would need to carry out in order to do what he has promised to do would result in a tax burden far greater, heavier, and deeper reaching than even his most prudent supporters dare admit. The rich will continue to be rich, for with being rich comes the resources to perform whatever financial sleight of hand is necessary to remain rich. The poor will continue to be poor, for no amount of gift money to be thrown at non-essential consumer goods will buy anyone’s way out of poverty. And the middle class will foot the bill. You cannot solve anything by taking from one group and giving to another so they can have a better place at the gospel of greed’s feeding trough. All you’re doing is enabling more to buy into the lie. Lipstick on a pig indeed.
What this election needs is honesty. The kind of change Obama seeks, a more compassionate and caring world, cannot be achieved by government intervention. The renewed mind that acts upon the principles of charity being a fundamental of faith acts because of their faith, not a modification to the tax code. No amount of wealth spreading can alleviate the poverty of the human heart living without Christ at its core. No amount of wealth spreading can counteract the depravity of the human heart living without Christ at its core. In fact, it only feeds that depravity by appealing to envy and greed. Attempting to alleviate one evil, namely not doing what one can to aid those in need, by stoking the fires of another evil is the equivalent of creating the light needed to read a map by setting it on fire.
Obama knows the Scriptures. He knows these things. If elected, will he act on them?
