Me? I just wanted an outlet through which to spill my opinions. I have no clue how many people ready my own blog. It's not that I don't care (obviously, I'm appreciative of any and all readers that I get). I just don't write with the sole intent of gaining more readers. If I get them, great. If I don't, nothing to lose sleep over. Obviously, that logic doesn't apply to the Jeff Goldstein's of the blogging world. The A-Listers that Jerry mentioned have completely forgotten the reasons why they started blogging in the first place.
