Many, many years ago the late Larry Norman wrote a song entitled “Peacepollutionrevolution” which commented on the political and social movements of its era (late ’60s/early ’70s) from an viewpoint of adherence to the eschatological teaching popular at the time that Christ’s return was imminent:
The word is revolution but no one’s fired a shot
Each side has its battle plans with detailed counterplots
And the world is closely watching as we near the battle line
But if you’re truly wise you’ll keep your eyes on PalestineThe water is polluted and the air is filled with death
Someday it won’t be easy to stop and catch your breath
But it’s all in Revelations, it’s part of the design
And if you’re truly wise you’ll keep your eyes on PalestineSha la la la
La la la la la laWell I marched for peace in Washington when things were getting hot
Then I gave blood in Chicago, went anemic on the spot
I would have hitchhiked to Toronto, John, but it’s all a waste of time
So I’m writing down this song to you
To sing and pass along to you
And if you’re truly wise you’ll keep your eyes on PalestineRevolution
Peace or pollution
Persecution
Oooh Jesus come quickly
The world’s getting sickly
Revolution
You’re the solution
One way
While it’s hip to flippantly dismiss such lyrics as relics from a bygone age, a look around the world reveals how little has changed in the thirty-nine years since the song was recorded. Some of the names and places have changed, but little else has done so. One is still well advised to keep their eye on Palestine, which in this case references Israel and the neighboring region rather than Palestine in and of itself.
While the western world twiddles and twaddles in the face of Iranian nose-thumbing in the face of murdering bloggers, imprisoning journalists with false charges (in a bizarre twist considering his standard modus operandi as will be outlined in a bit, Iranian President Ahmadinejad is calling for a judicial review), or developing nuclear weapons Israel is none-too quietly preparing for war with a country led by the madman Ahmadinejad whose naked statements about desiring to wipe Israel off the face of the earth — he repeated them today at a UN anti-racism conference which the United States declined to attend — are met with a shrug and the notion he can’t be serious. Yes, he is. Bear in mind Ahmadinejad’s brand of Islam features the belief he was put on earth to make ready the way for the 12th Iman. By destroying Israel he believes this path will be made complete or nearly complete.
Added to the mix is, as Israeli intelligence has noted, Iran facing severe internal economic difficulties. Ahmadinejad, along with the mullahs that have systemically run Iran into the ground since the overthrow of the Shah, could use a diversion. What better than the evil Jews?
Israel, which for some selfish reason prefers to go on existing, is more than willing to attack Iran for the purpose of destroying its nuclear weapon capability when, not if, it is reached. While the attack is not completely inevitable, all signs are the march toward it happening is becoming inexorable. Iran is not going to drop its development of atomic weapons, and Israel is not going to abandon its position that allowing Iran to possess same is in any fashion acceptable. The chances of this ending well are sadly only slightly higher than Nancy Pelosi being asked to speak at the next tea party. It is neither alarmist nor paranoid to state that a storm is on the horizon and moving in. Brace yourself.

This is really cool. I heard a Roman Catholic priest at my parents’ church talk about Christ-incidences. He said there are no coincidences because the Great Author is at work weaving life together, day by day. Just yesterday I added Larry Norman’s works on iTunes to my shopping cart. Coincidence? No.
As for the region of Palestine:
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!”
-Psalm 122:6
Consider me braced, but “Come, Lord Jesus!” -Revelation 22:20.
Have a blessed day, Jerry.
In Him,
