Just Not Getting This One

I’d been working on this mega-post since Monday evening, detailing by duplication the Twitter conversation between a drunken Allahpundit and others, most of which featured him first trying to hit on Meghan McCain without coming out and actually doing so; this being followed by an even more drunk conversation between him and a couple of women.  I’ve put it away for now due to being thoroughly bored with the whole thing.  Suffice it to say it took place; evidence available.

I’m trying to figure out why conservatives love to slag Ms. McCain while holding up Allahpundit as someone with something to say.  If you examine their positions on assorted issues of the day, there is precious little difference.  Both want a more “inclusive” GOP.  Ms. McCain distances herself from other conservative pundits such as Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham.  Allahpundit does the same and throws in a heaping spoonful of insulting Christians and Christ via constant bleating about his precious atheism.  Whatever Ms. McCain’s beliefs may be — she’s said she believes in the power of prayer but is generally mum on spiritual matters — she at least doesn’t go out of her way to offend.

Yet conservatives love Allahpundit and loathe Meghan McCain.  Why?  Because Allahpundit is pimped by Michelle Malkin?  Because Meghan McCain is John McCain’s daughter, a man who has the audacity to work with people regardless of party affiliation without sacrificing principal or belief?  Why does Ms. McCain’s public dislike of certain pundits make her the Antichrist while Allahpundit’s wallowing in self-pity, cheap shots against Sarah Palin and strident hatred of Christ and Christians is blown off as trivial quirks?

Said it before, saying it again.  Where do we get off claiming we are on God’s side of things when we embrace those who hate Him?  No, I don’t expect everyone on the right side of the aisle to march in lockstep with my beliefs.  I do expect them to at least respect my beliefs and those held by others of like mind.  Other believers can do as they wish.  But don’t expect me to applaud you when you support someone who thinks you’re a deluded moron.

I agree with you about Allahpundit. I don’t know why conservatives read his pieces on Hot Air.

I would like to know why he has to talk about Atheism all of the time. I thought Atheist’s didn’t believe in God. I do not understand that obsession at all. Why try to persuade Christians to not believe? Plus he hides behind the Allahpundit name. Does anyone even know who he is?

I agree with you 110%. This Allahpundit is a bona fied nutcase, just like Meghan McCain. Awesome website theme by the way!
