Planting A Tree Next To A Wall

Sooner or later, we all realize beating our head against the wall accomplishes nothing.

Other than giving us a headache, that is.

So what to do?

Here’s what I’m going to work on going forward.

Go outside and do what I can do.

I can’t move the wall.

I can’t break the wall.

I can’t bend the wall to my will.

But I can plant a tree next to it.

I can water and nurture that tree.

I can enjoy the shade and fruit it provides as it grows because I took the time to plant and nurture it.

Simply put, by doing what I can do.

And who knows?

Perhaps as it grows…

… the tree’s roots will work their way through the earth and do what I could never do.

Crack the wall until it breaks.

And even if that doesn’t happen…

… I’ll still have the tree to provide shade and fruit.

Either way it’s worth it.

  1. And when the tree grows big enough, maybe you can climb it and get over the wall!!
