OK, Got It, Thanks

There’s a perception in politics that if you scream loud and long about any given topic you’re actually accomplishing something.  Um, sure.

Yelling at people on Twitter or wherever may do wonders in terms of getting something off your chest.  But does it actually get things done?  Does it effect change?  Or is it more vapid preaching to the choir?

It’s good to get your opinion out there.  Really, it is.  But somewhere along the line you’ve got to realize if that’s all you’re doing, you’re not doing anything.  And if in the course of doing nothing you find yourself jumping down the throats of people who are on your side because they’re not screaming along with you, you’ve morphed from not doing anything to tearing down any possibility of actually doing something via ticking off the people you need by your side.

There’s a point where your audience is going to say, “OK, got it, thanks.”  At which time you need to stop.  Otherwise, it becomes, “OK… got it.”  And you’ve lost them.

Nice going.
